OLYMPIC PIPELINE RELOCATION

FIFE, WASHINGTON

The project consisted of the installation of a dewatering system to facilitate the relocation of 1900 lineal feet of gas pipeline.

THE CHALLENGE

Lowering groundwater 10-12 ft. below ground surface for the excavation to relocate approximately 1900lf of pipeline. The wellpoints had to be installed in 3-4 ft. of standing water due to it beingĀ in wetlands.

THE SOLUTION

Griffin installed three dewatering systems utilizing the standard jetting method that consisted of a total of 372 wellpoints approximately 6 ft. on center for the bore pits and the 20-inch pipeline. Wellpoints were also installed at 3ft on center for the two creek crossings. Two Griffin 8in wellpoint pumps were placed along the alignment at select locations.

GRIFFIN DIFFERENCE

Griffin installed dewatering systems for the pits first so the contractor could get started on the HDD portion of the project and then 1400lf of wellpoints along the rest of the pipeline. Griffin provided assistance to leap frog the system and maintained a timely schedule to complete the work within the budget.
