SANTA ANA MAINSTREAM-REACH 9

YORBA LINDA, CA

The project consists of the construction of a 24-inch thick grouted stone revetment and a 12-inch rip rap layer in efforts to prevent the erosion of the north bank of Santa Ana River.

THE CHALLENGE

The overall work scope included grouting of an existing pipeline bedding rock which proved to be a challenge. Extensive sumping efforts were needed to eliminate any perched water.

THE SOLUTION

Installation of a deep well system along the excavation alignment in conjunction with a wellpoint system to achieve drawdown and mop up any perched or standing water.

Grouting will be required to plug up the pipeline bedding rock, which acts as a conduit allowing ground water to infiltrate into the work zone.

GRIFFIN DIFFERENCE

Griffin successfully installed the dewatering system and achieved the required drawdown while maintaining communication and excellent relations with the client.
