Monticello Collection System

Monticello, Indiana

Wellpoint Dewatering required for 48-inch and 60-inch Storm Sewer and structures.

THE CHALLENGE

Winter installation between Lake Shafer and Blue Water Road. Structures are partially in Lake Shafer and will have Temporary Earth Retention Systems (TERS) consisting of tight, inter-locking steel sheeting. Contractor working 4 days 10 hours per day and leaving over the weekend, because they are 5 hours away. Numerous driveways along Blue Water Road to houses that need to remain open. Proximity of houses requires sound-attenuation for dewatering activities.

THE SOLUTION

Griffin provided Trackpunch jetting installation of a wellpoint system around the perimeter of the structures inside the TERS and along one side of the proposed trench line. Where driveways are encountered Wickpoints were installed and connected to the main header line to keep the driveways accessible for residents.

GRIFFIN DIFFERENCE

Griffin provided electric-powered wellpoint pumps. Manual hand-jetting was not possible due to river rock and working along the road, so the TrackPunch Jetting Tool was attached to the Contractors operated excavator, which allowed the wellpoints to be jetted up to 23 ft. below ground surface. We utilized local Union labor, which minimized labor costs.
